Japanese police data on Thursday showed that the police received 84,496 consultation requests regarding domestic violence in 2022, a record high for the 19th consecutive year.
According to the data released by the National Police Agency, among the total, which rose 1.8 per cent from the previous year, 73.1 per cent of the alleged domestic violence victims are women, while requests from men increased by 1,819.
Police made arrests or took other law enforcement actions in 8,581 domestic violence cases, which included one case of injury resulting in death and 116 attempted murder cases. (Xinhua/NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
