Shehu Dikko has been named chairman of the newly revived National Sports Commission (NSC).
Dikko was a former chairman of the League Management Committee (LMC).
He was also a former second vice-president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The erudite sports administrator also once served as a consultant to the House of Representatives Sports Committee.
The Kaduna State born businessman became a popular figure in sports circle in Nigeria during his stint as LMC boss.
Nigeria’s president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the scrapping of Ministry of Sports Development on Wednesday, replacing it with the NSC.
The NSC, which had previously been dissolved, is now tasked with overseeing the country’s sports policies and administration, a role last undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Sports Development.
