Delta State Journalists Forum has thrown its weight behind NFF President Amaju Melvin Pinnick for the CAF Presidency in next year’s Continental Football Election currently under the leadership of Ahmad Ahmad from Madagascar.
Speaking during a press briefing at the inaugural meeting of the four held in Abuja, the co-ordinator, Chukwudili Esenwa stated that the forum decided to back Delta State born administrator due to his track record in transparent football management and his ability in making the Super Eagles a global brand in terms of sponsorship.
Mr. Esenwa said Pinnick’s quest to go for the CAF number one position should be seen as Nigerian and West Africa project and must be supported by football stakeholders in the region.
“No matter how you look at it, CAF needs the face of Pinnick to turn the financial fortunes of the continental football body around.
“Pinnick if supported, West Africa will be the major beneficiary in terms of football development.
“Pinnick despite the criticism domestically, has done well in terms of taking Nigeria Football to the next level.
“Occupying number one position in Africa football will put Nigeria in the world football politics..
Esenwa concluded by saying that Nigeria Football Federation is almost 75% self sponsored under the dynamic leadership of Pinnick and urged every Nigeria Football stakeholders to join the movement of his CAF Presidency.
