The Delta State Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Mrs Kate Onianwa, has appealed for upward review of the capital and overhead limit in the 2022 proposed budget for her ministry.
The commissioner made the appeal when she led the management staff and some other officials of the ministry to defend its proposed budget for the 2022 financial year, on Tuesday in Asaba.
Onianwa said that the review of the 2021 budget highlighted the need for a realistic budget proposal for the year 2022
She said that the upward review of the budget would enable her ministry to achieve its core mandate as well as accommodate expenditure of land acquisitions.
”I wish to sincerely request for the introduction of a new head, sub-head and an upward review in the existing vote. This is predicated on the ministry’s additional functions in the new revenue chart,” she said.
The commissioner said that the upward review of some votes in the 2022 proposed budget was to capture payment of outstanding commitments and to make provisions for future activities.
She said that the office of the Surveyor General and the Urban and Regional Planning Board needed an upward review in the 2022 proposed budget to achieve their mandates.
Onianwa assured the budget planning team, led by the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Dr Barry Gbe, that granting her request would ensure high turnover in revenue generation.
She said that it would also ensure smooth running and effective administration in the ministry.
Responding, Gbe thanked the Lands Commissioner for the prudent use of available funds.
He assured her of his support, towards the collective actualisation of a stronger Delta vision.(NAN)
