Head of Women’s Football in Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ruth David has dragged an Abuja- based online sports newspaper and its editor to a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Abuja over allegations of false report and character assassination.
David had last year dragged the online newspaper, BSN Sports and its Editor to court over what she claimed to be a defamatory report tagged “U-20 World Cup: Allowance Scandal Hit Falconets”.
She said the report defamed her character and portrayed her personality in bad light.
And not amused by the false report, the football administrator slammed a suit of Twenty Million Naira (N20m) only on the newspaper.
But, when the case came up on Monday before Justice Anna Iyabeni Akobi seating at FCT High Court in Akwali Area Council, BSN Sports and its editor could not get the services of a lawyer to defend them.
Unimpressed by the none appearance of a lawyer for BSN Sports, the trial judge warned the Defendants that she cannot but go ahead with the case on the next adjourned date of May 23, 2019.
