In commemoration of International Day of the Girl Child 2023 (IDG2023), FAME Foundation aims to celebrate the potential, strength, and resilience of girls all over the world.
With the theme, “Invest in Girls’ Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being,” the non-profit organization will highlight the importance of empowering girls to lead and thrive with focus on girls rights and the opportunities they should have.
Speaking to the press, Arabinrin Aderonke Ogunleye-Bello, Executive Director of FAME Foundation, stressed how important it is to recognize and invest in girls’ rights, saying,
“Girls are future leaders, innovators, and change-makers of this world. When we invest in their rights, we empower them to shape a better future for all. In honour of this day, FAME Foundation is hosting a workshop for girls as a commitment to nurturing and supporting their growth. This event will provide a platform for girls to explore their potential, express their voices, and access resources to becoming strong leaders in their communities.”
She also pointed out, “Girls face various challenges worldwide, including discrimination, limited access to education, child marriage, and gender-based violence. This year’s theme calls on all of us to break down these barriers and invest in girls’ rights.”
She continued by saying that investing in girls’ rights means ensuring they have equal access to education, healthcare, and opportunities. It means creating an environment where girls can make informed decisions about their lives and bodies. It also means protecting them from all forms of violence, exploitation, and harmful practices. When we uphold girls’ rights, their leadership potential can flourish, leading to a brighter and more equitable world for everyone. READ ALSO:
