The Super Falcons of Nigeria will play atleast four matches including the three mandatory games at the group stage during the forthcoming Cyprus Cup holding form February 27 to March 6.
Thanks to the organisers of the annual international football tournament in Cyprus who have decided to recalibrate the format of the competition to give the participating countries the opportunity to play more games in the course of the football fiesta.
This new format of 2019 Cyprus Cup stated that none of the 12 participating teams divided into three groups of four teams will crash out after the group matches. Instead the overall 12th team and 11th- placed team will play in the classification tie.
In the same way the 10th and 9th teams will meet while the 8th and 7th teams will square up to determine the final placement of the teams participating in the tournament. It was also reliably gathered that the 6 qualified teams after the group matches will still go ahead to play up to the final to produce the winner of the competition.
By this arrangement Nigeria will stand the chance to play one more match should the country fail to finish first or second in the group stage. Nigeria will stay in Lanarca City from where Falcons will be travelling to nearby Ayianapa Center for her group matches.
