By Collins Agwam, Lafia Pandemonium broke out in Lafia, Nasarawa state capital on Monday when youths went on rampage attacking the Eggon people.
When Prompt News visited Tudun-gwandara in Lafia, people were seen scampering for safety to nearby villages.
As residents were running for safety, many sustained various degrees of injury. It could however not be ascertained if there was death.
Gunmen suspected to be Ombatse militias and fulani militias had struck on Sunday.
Mr. Stephen, a trader in Bukan-sidi, who spoke with our correspondent, lamented that “Business has been spoilt for today, as my shop and that of my neighbours are locked”.
Meanwhile, the State government has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on Lafia.
The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Tanko Al-makura, Yakubu Lamai, who disclosed this to newsmen said that the curfew will be between the hours of 6p.m. and 6a.m.
However, military personnel were seen entering into the state capital in Hilux vans, suggesting that peace may soon be restored.
As at press time, shops, offices and schools are under lock and keys.
