The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River has described the death of Malam Abba Kyari, who was the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, as “painful and shocking”.
The Chairman of APC in the state, Mr John Ochala, who spoke in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Calabar on Saturday, said the country had lost a dedicated personality.
Ochalla, said the demise of Kyari was ‘a big loss to his family, the nation, the Presidency and the APC’.
According to him, Kyari died when his services were most needed in the country.
“The fear that we had for a few days now of his contact with COVID-19 virus; we were all praying and hoping for his recovery but the worst has happened.
“We will take solace in the fact that he has left an indelible mark here. We need to learn from his good works.
“At this point, we need to forge ahead and pray for the good Lord to give his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
“Kyari came on board with a wealth of experience,” he said.
NAN reports that Kyari died on April 17, 2020, while receiving treatment after testing positive to the Coronavirus pandemic.
