Ahead of the World Cricket League Six Tournament in the United Kingdom, the national senior cricket team arrived Abuja from Port Harcourt on Friday night for four weeks camping. The team which comprises 14 local players and officials started training at the Cricket playing ground, Package B of the National Stadium, Abuja on Saturday. The tournament is billed to hold from 21st to 28th July, 2013. Also in the same group with Nigeria are Argentina, Bahrain, Kuwait and Januotu. As part of its preparation, the Nigerian team will on Sunday morning play a warm up match against the Asian Eleven at the Package B of the Abuja National Stadium. The team is also scheduled to embark on a training tour of United Kingdom from 6th to 18th of July. “This is going to be the Senior National team’s first major tournament since the inauguration of the new Cricket Board led by Emeka Onyeama,” Media Officer, Kayode Adeniyi said. |
