By Gracious Akujobi The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has unveiled the Henry Abebe Cup for the 5th edition of National Women Cricket Championship, which will take place on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23 November 2014 at the Cricket Oval Package B National Stadium, Abuja.
President of NCF, Emeka Onyeama made this known at a press briefing in Abuja while also revealing the prize money for the championship.
Onyeama explained that prize money will be given to wining association, adding that the association that takes the first position will receive the sum of N700, 000 while prizes will be given to best bat woman and best bowler.
Flanked by NCF board member Kayode Adeniyi and team Captain Kunle Adeboye, the NCF president said, “Cricket is a money spinning sport all over the world and we want to key into this and make it as popular and lucrative here in Nigeria.
“We want to ensure that this championship is a success as this initiative is a means to promote and improve the level of female Cricket involvement in the country in line with the ICC Women Cricket Involvement Policy
“This competition will provide the platform for discovery and selection of talented female Cricketers to represent the country in various international championships at every level”.
