COVID-19: IBEDC donates N11m food items to Ogun govt

 Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) on Thursday donated food items worth N11 million to support  Ogun government in its ongoing efforts at containing the spread of Coronavirus.The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the items, which included rice, noodles and semovita, were received by the Ogun Deputy Governor, Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele in Abeokuta.Presenting the items, IBEDC Chief Operating Officer, Mr John Oyedele, said the gesture was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility and contribution towards mitigating the impact of the lockdown in the state.According to Oyedele, IBEDC has earmarked about N100 million for the donation of relief items to support states in which it operates.“We cover fully Ogun, Oyo, Osun and Kwara states and partly Niger, Kogi and Ekiti states.“We are also supporting the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, one of the major medical facilities within our franchise and which has been designated as an apex care giver in the COVID-19 battle, with N5 million.“Specifically, we are donating food items worth N11 million to Ogun government and the items are 2,500 pieces of 5kg bags of rice, 3,000 pieces of 1kg of semovita and 1,500 cartons of noodles.“These donations are being replicated across all the states within our coverage area throughout the week and the next,” he said.He said that IBEDC would ensure regular power supply throughout the lockdown, adding that “we shall not disconnect non- paying customers during this period except it is based on safety advice.”“Our staff on essential duty and the technical crew are on ground to clear faults promptly.“Our customers can reach us through either our Call Centre on 07001239999 or visit our website www.ibedc.com or email address at  customercare@ibedc.com or call our Business Hub directly to report faults or make enquires.“All these are being done to support the various government initiatives and help reduce the hardship the lockdown has occasioned on the citizens,” he said.
