An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Tuesday remanded one Segun Fagbemi, 33, over alleged assault.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 15, around 09:30pm at Mayfair, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said that the defendant assaulted one Hammed Abolade and Olawale Akeju by beating them with iron rod.
He added that the defendant also threatened the lives of Abolade and Akeju with iron rod.
According to him, the defendant conducted himself in a manner that caused breach of public peace by coming to Ife 111 Garage Mayfair with his gang to take over the garage with violence.
The prosecutor submitted that the defendant was going around with arms.
Osanyintuyi said that the offence contravened Sections 80, 86, 249(d) and 351 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant however, pleaded not guilty to four-count charge of assault, threat to life, breach of peace and armed.
The Defense Counsel, Mrs Fausat Lawal-Olatunji, appealed for her client in most Liberal term, pledging that he would not jump bail, but would provide reliable sureties.
Magistrate Muhibah Olatunji, did not grant the bail of the defendant, but ordered for his remand in ‘A’ Division Police Station, Moore, Ile-Ife, pending the consideration of his bail.
Olatunji adjourned the case until June 18, for hearing
