LAGOS – A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has declared as illegal the Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committee of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The party at the weekend during its national convention in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, dissolved the Ali Modu Sheriff-led national executive and appointed a caretaker committee.
But, Justice Ibrahim Buba, in a ruling on Monday, directed the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to enforce his order, barring the members of the constituted caretaker committee from running the affairs of the party in interim capacity.
Prompt News recalls that the PDP National Deputy Chairman, Uche Seconds, had declared the convention open on Saturday, shortly after the Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff had announced cancellation of the convention, citing court orders.
