Again, the controversial issue of voting pattern during proceedings could not be resolved at Tuesday plenary of the national conference.
After serious exchange of hot arguments and near exchange of blows by delegates, the conference chairman, Justice Idris Kutigi, pleaded that debate on the issue be deferred for further consultation.
Justice Kutigi, contended that the issue must be handled with care so as not to cause disintegration of the House.
On Monday, some delegates had kicked against the provision that three-quarter majority should carry the day when an issue could not be resolved by consensus.
Others were of the view that the rule which provides for three-quarters (75%) majority be allowed to stay.
The controversial Order 6 Rules 4 states that “any questions proposed for decision in the conference shall be determined by consensus and when this is not achievable, by a three-quarter (75%) majority of the delegates present and voting”.
At a point during the debate on the issue, a delegate made attempt to attack Gani Adams, the chairman of Odua People’s Congress (OPC).
However, prompt intervention by other delegates prevented exchange of blows as temper rose.
