The Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Commission on Wednesday distributed 133 goats, 136 bags of millet and 210 unprocessed bundles of millet and N 120,000 as district Zakkat in the state.
The Commission’s Chairman, Malam Lawal Maidoki, led other members to distribute the items at Gedawa and Gidan Bubu Districts of Wamakko Local Government Area in the state.
Maidoki who commended the committee in the districts, urged them to sustain it and ensure its success.
He said that the initiative would ease some of the sufferings of the needy.
“As individuals, we appreciate your commitment and urged you to sustain the tempo. For it is only Allah that will reward the good deeds of mankind, “ he said.
He advised them not to relent in their efforts to support the initiative; financially and spiritually.
The chairman also appealed to wealthy individuals in the state to support the government by assisting the needy in the society.
He commended the state government and the Sultanate Council for their commitment and dedication to the success of the commission.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, called on Islamic scholars to always preach on provision of charity for the needy in the society.
Abubakar who was represented by the District Head of Shuni, Alhaji Muhammad Jabbi, restated the need for individual contribution to ensure the success of the initiative.
He called on wealthy individuals to channel their Zakkat to the commission for proper distribution among the needy in the society.
In their separate remarks, the District Heads of Gedawa and Gidan Bubu, Alhaji Dangaladima Buba and Alhaji Muhammad Gidado, commended the commission for the success of the initiative.
They appealed to wealthy individuals to support the needy and the less privileged in the society.
125 goats and 109 bags of Millet were distributed at Gedawa district, while 27 bags and 210 bundles of unprocessed millet, eight goats and N120,000 were distributed at Gidan Bubu district.
