Jamilu Collins is relishing making his AFCON finals debut for the Super Eagles at Egypt 2019 in Wednesday’s 2-1 quarterfinal win against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
The SC Paderborn of Germany defender picked up an injury in training which forced him to miss Nigeria’s previous four games in the competition.
Collins was however handed his first start of the competition in the quarterfinal victory against the South Africans at the Cairo International Stadium.
He put up an impressive performance in the game, now can’t hide his joy at playing his first AFCON finals game.
“I’m excited to have played my first game in this competition. The injury was a tough one for me to take, but I kept working hard and thank God I am fully fit now, “Collins stated.
“I am also happy that we won the game against South Africa. It was a tough game for us and that’s because it was a game between two good teams.
“For me, I feel as strong as before, and I’m eagerly looking forward to our semifinal game.”
