The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen Faruk Yahaya, has reassured the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) of provision of capital and continuous infrastructural and intellectual development.
Yahaya gave the assurance on Thursday at the end of ‘Excercise camp high land’ and
battle Inoculation and luncheon in honour of final year Army cadets of 68 regular course at Kachia, Kaduna State.
The COAS disclosed that in his commitment towards enhancing the capacity of cadets, he authorized the issuance of six gun trucks to the NDA for training.
He also said that personnel were posted to the demo in consistent with the manpower holding of a typical Infantry battalion.
“I have also directed that only top quality officers and soldiers with requisite experience will be posted to the Academy in whatever capacity”, he said.
Yahaya explained that the battle inoculation was aimed at simulating real battle situations and other complex operational scenarios that play out in real battle field.
He urged the cadets to participate in all activities that would enable them develop and maintain the desired cardio-respiratory endurance.
“You must endeavor and aspire to ensure that your efforts contribute to the overall success of the Nigerian Army and the nation in general”, Yahaya said.
Earlier in his address, the Commandant of NDA, Maj.-Gen Ibrahim Yusuf, explained that the objective of the exercise was to evaluate cadets on the application of tactics and techniques.
He added that the exercise was also to acquaint the cadets with procedures in operations and administration of logistics in order to determine their eligibility for commissioning into the Nigerian Army.
Yusuf maintained that the battle inoculation, which was the climax of the exercise camp highland, was designed to expose the cadets to a semblance of real life scenarios.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the exercise included map reading, adventure as well as leadership training.
NAN also reports that the event featured firing of live ammunitions, showcase of tactical maneuvers, air components strike, among others.(NAN).
