The Federal Government has been urged to set up a Board of Inquiry to unravel Nigerians behind persistent Boko Haram attacks in the country despite the concerted efforts of the Nigerian Military to curb it.
Stakeholders who bore their minds in a communiqué issued at the end of a one-day interactive session to discuss the causes of the prevailing security situation in Borno state and other parts of the country also want all those found culpable probed.
The session was organised by the Coalition for a New Nigeria.
The communiqué signed by Reverend Samson Onwu, and Jummai Samuel, Chairman and Secretary respectively also want all those indicted for propping up the terror group to stand down from any office they currently occupy so as not to jeopardise further investigations.
“Those proven to be complicit in sustaining the terror group in place be immediately charged to court under the relevant laws.
“There is need for Mr. President to overhaul his list of political appointees in security if necessary reassign those that vested interest is preventing from being productive.
“The militants in the Niger Delta should see the Federal Government’s readiness for dialogue as an opportunity for constructive engagement towards finding a lasting solution to the problems militating against the region and put an end to militancy.
“The government on its part should ensure that resources committed into the development of the region are not embezzled by the so called leaders from this region.
On the Niger Delta crises the coalition maintained that unrepentant sponsors of the criminality and terrorist acts in the South-East and the Niger Delta should not be treated differently from Boko Haram sponsors when they are eventually exposed while militants and separatists that insist on terrorising the nation should get the same attention as Boko Haram insurgents “the communiqué reads.
