Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu of Rangers International FC of Enugu has made it clear that only talented and disciplined players will make his team for the forthcoming season.
Ilechukwu disclosed this to newsmen in Enugu on Friday while watching grassroots friendly matches at the Rangers training pitch inside Liberty Estate, Enugu.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Rangers FC gaffer watched a newly promoted Nationwide League club, Coal City United, take Akpugo FC to the cleaners with a 5-0 win.
The coach said that any player dropped by the management or coaches for not performing well could still have a second chance, but it would not be so for an indisciplined player.
“Any player dropped for not performing optimally can still be watched again, but any player dropped because of indiscipline cannot come back,” he said.
He said that players who are not disciplined cannot have a place in his team because nobody is an island.
“For you to play to the highest level, you must be 100 per cent disciplined, that will control your character,” he said.
The coach pleaded with the governor of Enugu State, Dr Perter Mbah, to do everything in his power to bring Rangers FC back to Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in the forthcoming season.
According to the coach, Rangers stand 100 per cent chance of winning the league if they return to Enugu instead of playing home matches in away.
“Playing in Enugu will give Rangers International the opportunity of having their 12th man on the pitch, which is the supporters.
“I remember when I was with Mountain of Fire and Miracles of Lagos and with Heartland FC of Owerri, playing Rangers in Enugu was always super tuogh.
“I believe that Rangers coming home will be one of the best things that will happen to the team.
Ilechukwu also said that Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium is a big source of income for the state and needed to be put into use to boost its economy. (NAN)
