A Sokoto Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered that a civil servant, Abubakar Umar, be remanded in prison for alleged abduction of a three-year-old girl.
Umar, 53, who resides at Gidandawa area of Sokoto, is charged with one-count of abduction.
The Chief Magistrate, Nuraddeen Bello, who gave the order, adjourned the case until Nov. 15, for mention.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Monday Kennedy, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 4, at his residence.
Kennedy said the accused lured the little girl into his room with the intent to have sexual intercourse with her.
He said that the case was reported to the Dadin Kowa Police Station by the victim’s father, Bashir Abdulrazak of More area Sokoto.
The prosecutor added that the offence contravened Section 273 of the Penal Code.
