The Commerce And Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CICAN), has called on the Nigerian Government to be more consistent in its policy drive especially in the implementation of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan.
The group in a statement by its Chairman, Mr Frederick Idehai Friday wait it was particularly pleased that the country moved 15 places better from its 2019 position in the World Bank ranking in the EASE OF DOING BUSINESS.
The Chairman urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the Economic Team to do all they could to sustain the tempo of the positive economic trajectory by reviewing and in some cases assenting to policies like the Nigeria Automotive Policy, Company and Allied Matters Act among others that are capable of turning the economy positively and placing Nigeria among the comity of nations.
He also appealed to the President not to relent in his efforts in tackling the issues of insecurity, corruption, unemployment, poverty as well as creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in order to attract more Foreign Direct Investments into the country.
The Chairman assured, the Federal Government, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and its agencies of the association’s commitment as major stakeholders in the economy to support and promote government policies that will further move Nigeria upward in the World Bank Ease of Doing Business, Improvement in the poverty and Unemployment Index among others.
“The EXCO and the entire members of the Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria also known as the Industry Trade and Investment Correspondents Association of Nigeria Abuja are proud and happy to be part of this historic achievement recorded by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and his team in moving Nigeria upward in the latest World Bank Ease of Doing Business ranking through quality policy implications” he said.
