An NGO, Folorunsho Olafemi Foundation (FOF), has donated food items and clothing materials to no fewer than 250 indigent widows across the three local government areas of Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi.
Speaking to NAN at the distribution venue in Mopa, Mr. Folorunsho Olafemi, the Founder of FOF, said that no fewer than 250 indigent widows from Yagba West, Yagba East and Mopamuro Local Government Areas from Yagba Federal Constituency benefited from the donations.
Olafemi explained that the initiative was borne out of his passion to alleviate the sufferings of the vulnerable people, especially, widows in Yagbaland, and putting smiles on their faces.
The philanthropist added that the NGO in collaboration with his friends, had recently empowered 12 youths across Yagbaland with grants ranging from N100,000 to N300,000 depending on their chosen businesses.
He reiterated his commitment and that of his partners to continue to impact the lives of the less privilege people in the society.
Also speaking, the Assistant Coordinator of FOF, Mr Barnabas Henry, noted that in 2019, the NGO was able to empower 75 women in Mopamuro LGA, comprising 35 widows and 40 petty traders.
”This year to the glory of God, we have been able to reach out to 250 widows in the three LGAs of Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi West Senatorial District.
”Today, we have attended to 80 widows in Mopamuro; on Wednesday, we reached out to 90 in Yagba West; and on Tuesday, we attended to 80 widows in Yagba East.
”In all, FOF has reached out to 250 indigent widows across Yagbaland. We gave each beneficiary a bag of semo (10kg), a pack of maggi and Ankara fabrics, among others”, Henry said.
Henry added that the NGO had also awarded scholarships to some indigent students, donated sporting tools to schools, and paid the medical bills of some indigent patients running into One million naira in 2020.
In their separate remarks, the royal fathers in the area; the Elulu of Mopa, Oba Julius Joledo; and the Alamuro of Amuro, Oba Alfred Aiyedogbon, commended the NGO for the gesture.
They urged the women to continually support and pray for its founder, Olafemi.
Some of the beneficiaries: Mrs Mary Oladipo, Alice Balogun, Alice Osho, and Janet Abe, commended Olafemi for the gift and prayed that God should continue to bless and protect him and his entire household.
