Honour from abroad came the way of the people of Anambra state in the South East of Nigeria as one of their own and the second son of late Professor Chinua Achebe, Africa’s greatest novelist, raconteur and essayist, Dr Chidi Achebe, who has been chosen as winner of the 2022 prestigeous John and Samuel Bard Award in the United States for Excellence in Medicine and Science.
This is even as both the outgoing Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano and incoming governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo have felicitated with Dr. Achebe for the award and honour he has brought to Anambraians, the South East geopolitical zone and Nigeria in general.
According to the statement made available to journalists by Anambra state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Chief C. Don Adinuba, Obiano and Soludo have expressed delight at the honour to Dr Achebe, the second son of the pre-eminent writer, on hearing the news yesterday.
