An Upper Area Court sitting in Kasuwan Nama, Jos, on Friday sentenced 19-year-old Genesis Hilary and Nwonkoro Uchechukwu, both carpenters, to six months imprisonment for stealing car parts.
The presiding judge, Mr. Lawan Suleiman, sentenced Hilary and Uchechukwu, after they pleaded guilty to the theft.
The judge gave them an option to pay a fine of N5,000.
The judge said the judgment would serve as deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such criminal acts.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the Laranto Police Station, Jos, in July, 29.
The prosecutor said the officers arrested the convicts with the car parts during their routine patrol.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 305 of the Plateau State Penal Code Law. (NAN)
