ABUJA – Presidential candidates of the different political parties have outlined the different action points they would pursue if voted into office next year.
The candidates, including President Muhammadu Buhari, All Progressives Congress (APC); Atiku Abubakar, Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP); Oby Ezekwesili , Allied Congress Party of Nigeria(ACPN) Dr Kingsley Moughalu, Young Progressive Party, (YPP ); Mr Obadiah Mailafia, African Democratic Congress (ADC ) and others spoke on Monday, at the National Christian Centre, Abuja at a special interactive session jointly organized by CAN and Legacy Initiative International (LII).
While president Buhari was represented by Minister of Transport and Director General of Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organization, Mr Rotimi Amaechi and Mr Festus Keyamo, spokesman of the campaign organization, Atiku was physically present with his running, Mr Peter Obi.
Also physically present were Moughalu, Ekwezili, Mailafi, and others. The interactive session was held behind closed doors.
In a brief supplied at the end of the session, Chief Johnny Ucheaga, National Secretary of Legacy Initiative International said “The CAN president, Rev Samson Ayokunle presided over the session while the CAN big wigs including the primate of the Anglican Communion were also in attendance.
The Legacy delegation led by the Grand Patron, Dr. Kenny Martins, included Bishop Adebayo Babalola, Mrs Bolatito Obaigbo, Mr Kola Felix, Prince Chudi Chukwuani and Chief Johnny Ucheaga.
“For the morning session we met with the following candidates, 1. Dr. Edosanwan of Nigeria Democratic Congress NDCP. 2. Gen. Gbor of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA); Dr. Muoghalu of Young Progressive Party YP; .Dr. Oby Ezekwesili of ACPN; Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi representing President Buhari of APC; Obadia Mailafia of African Democratic Congress ADC; then we had short break.
“The Afternoon session continued with the following: Mr Peter Obi of PDP; Mr. John Dara of National Transformation Party NTP; Mr Moses Godia Shipi of All Blending Party, and Mr. Fela Durotoye of Alliance for New Nigeria ANN.
“At 6.30 pm we were informed that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has sent word that he will come by 8pm and we had to take a second break. We are back at the International Christian Centre Abuja to receive him as we did to the other 10. “
Chief Ucheaga said the candidates and their representatives came in one after the other and were asked same set of questions, namely their views about Nationalism and Patriotism; Restructuring; Secularity of Nigeria; How to revamp the economy; their views on insurgency and how to tackle it; Job creation; Farmers-herdsmen conflicts and how to combat it; insecurity; Foreign policy; Power generation and infrastructural development among others.
