Nollywood superstar, Enyinna Nwigwe, has been adjudged the ‘Overall Best Actor’ by the Jury of the 2024 edition of the Cameroon International Film Festival (CAMIFF).
According to a statement by Nwigwe on Monday, the honour was announced during the closing ceremony of the event held in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Nwigwe, one of Nollywood leading actors clinched the recognition for his superlative performance in the movie, ‘Choke Hold’.
The movie is a Caribbean action drama which has Nwigwe in a leading role alongside top Jamaican actress, Sherando Ferril.
Expressing his joy about the feat, Nwigwe said, “Yours truly was presented with an Overall Best Actor award at the just concluded Cameroon International Film Festival for my role in the Caribbean movie, Choke Hold.
“Choke Hold also took home the Best Screenplay award on the night.
“Shout out to the entire Choke Hold team. Special shout out to Gilbert Ebot for the relentless efforts at keeping the film culture alive and thriving in Cameroon.
“And congratulations to all other recipients.”
Choke Hold is a domestic violence drama which premiered in December 2023.

Produced, written and directed by Joel Ayuk, the film is inspired by the director’s knowledge of an actual case of intimate partner violence and shot with a diverse cast and crew of Caribbean, African and North American film professionals.
Nwigwe, critically-acclaimed for tasking film roles is not new to such cross-continental film productions.
He has featured in films with such slants like ‘All About Love’ (South Africa) and ‘Black November’, where he featured alongside global acts like Vivica Fox, Kim Basinger, Akon and Wyclef Jean. (NAN)
