After a turbulent one month of leadership crisis in the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and another two days public holiday observed by Nigerians, activities are yet to pick up at the federation’s headquarters at Wuse Zone 7, Abuja.
Prompt News Online reporter’s visit to the NFF Glass House Wednesday revealed that few staff showed up at their duty posts just as some of the top officials were said to have travelled to their countryside to celebrate the Muslim festival of Eid-el Kabir with their families.
It was also observed that the NFF staff who were in the office today were more relaxed now as they shared jokes amongst themselves with one of them who pleaded anonymity expressing his joy that the leadership tussle has been settled by the Federal Government last Monday.
According to the staff, “most of us here (NFF) do not like the leadership crisis in the first instance. It has caused some of us emotional and financial discomforts because we could no longer predict what will happen in the office the next day. We were leaving in fear of the unknown”.
The Federal Government through the Office of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo conveyed to the Federation of International Football Association FIFA) the recognition of the Amaju Melvin Pinnick-led Executive Board as the authentic leadership of the NFF, although the Ambassador Christopher Giwa faction has been kicking against the Government’s stand.
