By Gracious Akujobi Deputy Governor of Cross Rivers State, Efiok Cobham is confident the state would host the best National Sports Festival in recent time, assuring participants of total hospitality come 2014.
Cobham, who doubles as the Vice Chairman of the Main Organising Committee (MOC) for the festival told Prompt News Online that the games dubbed “Paradise Games” will live up to its billing.
“I know athletes will enjoy Calabar when they come for the festival games. What is unique about Calabar is the beautiful people who are very warm and welcoming but beyond the assurance of a beautiful festival we are putting everything in shape to make sure we host the best sports festival”.
The Deputy Governor said winning the games is not the priority of the Cross Riverians but the spirit of friendship and camaraderie is what they desire.
“It will be nice for us to win as host but that is not our priority. It is the team spirit, the spirit with which our athletes approach the games. Sure we like to host and win but that is not the ultimate; that is not the reason we are hosting” he stated.
