Plateau United put up a good fight as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Stade Mandji in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round clash at the Stade Franceville on Saturday.
Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side dominated play in the game and were unlucky not to get a win.
The Jos club twice led in the game but were pegged back by their hosts.
All four goals came in the first half of the keenly contested encounter.
The country’s other representative in the competition, Rivers United will host Liberia’s Watanga Football Club on Sunday.
The encounter will hold at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
Plateau United and Rivers United are looking to become the second Nigerian side to win CAF Champions League after Enyimba won the title in 2003 and 2004.
