The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ekiti State has described the recent dissolution of the cabinet of the state government as a commendable step taking by Governor Ayo Fayose, saying it will afford other members of the party an opportunity to serve the state again.
Rising from the State Working Committee meeting, the party resolved that, though the decision to appoint and dissolve cabinet is exclusively that of the governor but Fayose had made consultation with the leadership of the party and other stakeholders before the dissolution hence we commend the governor for the honour.
The party explained that the dissolution couldn’t come as a surprise to any Party members because the governor had intimated them in meetings for more than two months to the time he executed the decision.
The party equally commended the governor for giving the party members who served in the dissolved cabinet the opportunity to serve the State at this time when some States found it difficult to appoint commissioners for almost three years after inauguration of the governor due to economic depression which the country has been plunged into by APC Federal government.
The State working committee also commended the former commissioners for the meritorious service they rendered the state, adding that its noteworthy that none of the commissioners soiled his or her integrity during period they were in office a situation that defined PDP as a party peopled by men and women of high moral standard.
The party however enjoined the former commissioners to continue to be upright and loyal to the party as that can’t be their last appointment, saying their level of loyalty and mobilisation for the party now will to a great extent determine their future appointment or otherwise.
Meanwhile members of the State working committee have assured members of the party that it will always cooperate with the governor in his efforts to lift the State up from the colony of debt where the past All Progressives Congress government of Dr Kayode Fayemi dumped the state before he left.
