By Gloria Emmanuel The Governing Council of the University of Abuja on Monday ordered the shutdown of the school indefinitely.
Prompt News reports that as the #BringBackOurExams protest was heating up, some students that were still within the school mini campus were chased out and the school put under lock and key.
It wasn’t a different story in the hostels at the mini campus as students were also ordered to leave while police fired teargas canisters in the air making the whole atmosphere unbearable.
At main campus of the school, a notice has been placed in all departments and hostels ordering every student to leave the school premises immediately.
As at the time of this report, students are still packing their luggage, preparing to leave while some have left since when the strike action started.
As a school in the Nigeria’s FCT, UniAbuja is expected to be a model university but it has come short of expectation.
The students have been protesting against the lingering strike by the members of the Academic Staff of the institution.
While the lecturers are claim they are being owed some allowances, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Adelabu has dismissed the claim, insisting the lecturers are not being owed.
