By Olusegun Lawrence A group of protesters under the aegis of Open Society Coalition on Tuesday morning stormed the National Assembly Complex to protest the planned suspension of Senator Kabiru Marafa.
The protesters numbering hundreds demanded immediate resignation of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who is facing corruption charges at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
They displayed placards with various inscriptions such as “Suspend Saraki not Marafa, “stop suspending nembers leave the Senate and face CCT”, “Democracy survives inclusive not in suspending people of different opinion”, ” NASS centre of Democracy not Facist centre”.
There has been speculation that the Senate Committee on Ethics may recommend the suspension of Marafa when it presents its report at plenary today.
Senator Marafa has been under fire over an alleged unguided statement made against the leadership of the Senate and credited to him.
