The Kogi state governorship election held on Saturday has been declared inconclusive.
While declaring the results in Lokoja, the Independent National Electoral Commission Returning Officer, Prof Emmanuel Kucha, said the number of cancelled votes was more than the margin between the winner and the runner up.
At the conclusion of collation of results from all the 21 local government areas in the state, the All Progressives Congress candidate, Abubakar Audu, polled 240, 867 votes.
The incumbent governor Idris Wada and the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, came second with a total of 199, 514 votes.
According to the Returning Officer, 49, 953 votes were cancelled which were more than the margin between the votes polled by Audu and Wada.
INEC is thus expected to fix new date for supplementary election.
