By Olusegun Lawrence, Abuja. Sequel to termination of the appointment of Lawal Daura as the Department of State Services Boss, the Federal Government has appointed an acting Director General for the Service.
He is Matthew B. Seiyefa, the most senior Director in the Department of State Services (DSS), who will act as Director-General until further notice, Media Aide to the Acting President, Laolu Akande, announced this on his Twitter handle.
Seiyefa, MNI, who hails from Bayelsa State, was prior to his new appointment the most senior director in the DSS – Assistant DG.
He was also the Director, Institute of Security Studies, Abuja.
With about 34 years of experience, Seiyefa has served in different capacities, including the State Director in Osun, Akwa Ibom, and Lagos States. Seiyefa is also a member of the National Institute.
Prompt News Online reports that the erstwhile DG, Daura, was sacked following unauthorised invasion of the National Assembly Complex earlier in the day by operatives of DSS.
Osinbajo had in a terse statement terminating the appointment of Daura, described the invasion by DSS as “unacceptable” and vowed to sanction those involved in the illegal operation.
The Federal lawmakers were billed to reconvene today but were prevented from entering the National Assembly complex by operatives of DSS, an action that has been widely condemned.
