The Chairman House Committee on Sports, Godfrey Gaiya says the Super Eagles need not fear any team they are drawn against in the last round of the FIFA World Cup, Brazil 2014 qualifiers.
In an exclusive chat with Prompt News Online in Calabar, the Member of the Lower Chamber say as African champions Super Eagles should be feared and not the other way round.
“Just like any other Nigerian I am very elated that we have gotten this far but we still have bigger hurdle to cross which I know the boys are well motivated to deliver”.
“I don’t think Nigeria as we stand now should be afraid of any team, we are African champions and when we want to be the best we should not be choosy who should be your opponent”.
Gaiya, who says he is confident Super Eagles will qualify for the world cup is however, optimistic the team will do well at the mundial in Brazil by getting to the quarter-finals stage.
“I can assure you Super Eagles will go far at the next world cup, we should be thinking about the quarters’ at worst, nothing less than being in the quarter-finals and then the team can take it on from there” he stated.
