SENATOR Rochas Okorocha has described the killing of about 43 farmers in Borno state as an insult to the entire nation, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari needs to hire competent hands to bring and end to the incessant killings and ensure the safety of lives of Nigerians and their property.
He reiterated this today, at Nasarawa state Government House, Lafia, during condolence visit to the family and state government over the recent murder of the state All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Mr Philip Shekwo.
The Senator called on the President to fire those saddled with the responsibility and have failed the nation to correct the anormalizes and ensure peace in the country.
According to senator Okorocha “most of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s Aides have failed the nation and are no longer useful in the national assignments.
” President Buhari should hire competent hands to ensure the safety of lives of Nigerians and their property.
“President Buhari should do the needful to save the nation from the insult on the nation and the leaders. The people are angry with the recent events in the country,”
He charged the security agencies to fish out and prosecute culprits that killed the farmers in Borno and the killers of the APC Chairman, in Nasarawa and other parts of the country.
” Incessant killing of innocent Nigerian in the country must be stopped as it is an insult to the nation.
He called for an entire restructuring of the nation’s security architecture in order to address the insecurity issues in many parts of the country.
Okorocha noted that the security of a nation is a collective responsibility of both the government and the people, as he called on Nigerians to be patient and cooperate with the government to reduce unemployment and hunger ravaging the nation.
In his remark, Governor Abdullahi A Sule thanked Senator Okorocha for the visit and stated that the kingpin of the killer of the APC Chairman, Philip Shekwo Tatari, Muhammed Usman had been arrested by personnel of the Nigeria Police.
“The suspected team leader of Shekwo’s killer has confessed that he and his gang carried out the killing of APC chairman, so we get him arrested.”
“The suspect told me that he and his team have their reasons why they killed APC chairman in the state. We are still waiting for the police investigation to know the reasons behind the killing of the chairman.
“But for whatever reasons, the chairman does not deserve to die in such a manner,” Sule added.
Governor Sule who described the late APC chairman as a man of peace, said the way and manner he died was not only painful but a loss the state will not overcome in a hurry.
