The Bauchi government says it has enrolled about 44,000 vulnerable persons under the Federal Government’s Basic Health Care Provison Fund (BHCPF) in the state.
Dr Mansur Dada, Executive Secretary, Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA), stated this while reviewing the progress of the programme as part of activities to mark the 2022 Democracy Day celebration, on Sunday in Bauchi.
He said the federal government had expended about N1.1 billion on implementation of the programme since inception in the state.
He said the beneficiaries were accessing quality healthcare services in 323 primary healthcare facilities, 26 general hospital and Specialist Hospital, Bauchi.
Dada who lauded the gesture, said that: “from the preparatory state that commenced from 2020 to date, the Federal Government spent about N1.1billion for the BHCPF.
“We have paid for 12 months and the agency has sufficient fund for the next 12 months.
“Also; N370 million has been disbursed to 323 PHCs and N12 million to the 26 general and specialist hospitals,” he said.
The secretary listed the BHCPF beneficiaries to include women of reproductive age, under-five children, the aged, poor and physically challenged persons,” he said.
While commending President Muhammadu Buhari for the passage of National Healthcare Insurance Authority Act, Dada called for proactive measures to fast track successful implementation programme across the country. (NAN)
