Newly-appointed National Technical Director, Mr. Bitrus Bewarang on Friday visited the NFF\FIFA Goal Project to monitor the Golden Eaglets’ training session ahead of next week’s 2017 Africa U17 qualifier against Niger Republic.
It was the former Super Eagles assistant coach’s first official duty following his appointment and it afforded him the opportunity to interact with the team’s technical crew and to familiarize with the schedule of the U-17 side.
The 65-year-old, who had previously worked at all levels of the national teams bar the Golden Eaglets, advised the youngsters to be of exemplary conduct and follow the instructions of the coaches to the letter.
“I’m happy to be in your midst and to actually ascertain your progress and we are going to put our heads together to ensure the success of your programme,” he stated. “I’m always interested in the welfare of coaches and players, and with the cooperation of the NFF, you will get the desired support.”
The visit was a reunion for the former BCC Lions’ coach with his former players, in the shape of Golden Eaglets’ coaches Manu Garba (who played under him in the 1990s) and Nduka Ugbade (during his days with the Super Eagles along with Dutch coach Clemens Westerhof).
Bewarang added: “I’m happy you are with result-oriented coaches and I have known both Manu and Nduka for a very long time and you have to listen to them as well as your other coaches for us to achieve good results,” noted Bewarang who was in company with NFF Assistant Director (Technical), Abdulrafiu Yusuf.
