The residents of the Tse-Adi in Makurdi Local Government of Benue have lauded Gov. Hyacinth Alia for approving the construction of the long-abandoned major road in their community.
They bared their minds in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Makurdi.
A community leader, Mr Benedict Akaanan, said that the completion of the road would bring relief to commuters and boost economic activities in the area.
Akaanan said that with the road, residents of the area could easily move in and out of the area.
“We are extremely thankful to Governor Alia for this life-changing project,” he said.
However, another community leader, Mr James Adaga, appealed to the governor to provide an electricity transformer to complement the road project.
“The community has been experiencing frequent power outages, hindering economic growth and daily life.
“A reliable electricity supply would complete the transformation of our community.
“We appealed to the governor to consider our request and bring light to Tse-Adi,” Adaga said.
Mrs Dorcas Mnguter, a resident, pledged that the community would continue to support the governor’s development initiatives and looked forward to his continued investment in their well-being.
“We appreciate the governor’s commitment to rural development. Electricity will unlock our community’s full potential,” Mnguter said.
Mr Simon Azembe, also a resident, said that the road would increase 80 per cent in economic activities and 90 per cent reduction in travel time.
He stressed that over 800 households would benefit from the road project.
“The people of the Tse-Adi community kindly request Alia to provide a 500KVA electricity transformer and upgrade the existing power distribution infrastructure in the area,” Azembe said.
He further said that Alia would leave a lasting legacy as a champion of rural development if he completed the road. (NAN).
