By Gracious Akujobi Ex-international Taribo West, says he is not perturbed about the bench warming role of Mikel Obi and Victor Moses at their various clubs towards build up to the World Cup.
The two players who ply their trade with Chelsea and Liverpool FC in the English Premier league have been reduced to bench warmers, a situation which does not please Nigerians.
The former Inter Milan defence marshal told Prompt News that when the teams come together in their World Cup camps every lapse will be corrected before the mundial kicks off.
“Those two are major players in the team, if right now they are not playing too much it is not going to be a major problem.
“If they go into camp because they had some playing time in their clubs for the season, so if they come into camp and they push them a little bit I think their game will come up and they will also meet the standard of every other player in the team and that will help them to give their best”.
West went on to say that Joseph Yobo’s experience should not be over looked in the team as he will bring that to bear to form a solid defence against any team.
According to him, Ike Uche and Osaze Odemwingie who are also doing well in their respective clubs should be given opportunity in the Eagles World Cup bound team as well.
When asked how far Nigeria can go at the World Cup he went spiritual by saying “I won’t make any predictions now but I know like I said before there is a spirit behind this team (Super Eagles) it is heavy and it is called grace.
“When you have grace it means you have an ability of something you do not merit. I see these boys pushing all the way through”.
