There is a strong indication that the Dele Belgore group in Kwara state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to dump the party.
There has been controversy over who controls the APC structure in the state which effectively is in the hand of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
While negotiating with the G5 Governors, the APC national leadership had agreed to handover the party structure at the state level to the governors once they defect.
But, the party’s governorship candidate in the 2011 election, Dele Belgore, seems not ready to agree with the position of the party.
Bunmi Olusona, in a statement on Friday said the Belgore group will not be part of the ongoing registration exercise hence, directing its supporters to await further directive.
The statement reads, “Our attention was today drawn to antics by members of the Sarakite Movement who are currently registering as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara, luring our unsuspecting supporters and members to participate in their on-going membership registration exercise.
“They have employed a crude method, using the name of our Political leader, Mohammed Dele Belgore, SAN to persuade people to register in their sinking political platform.
“We wish to dissociate Mr Dele Belgore, SAN and our teeming supporters from the said exercise as we no longer have any relationship with the All Progressives Congress.
“We however urge our members to await further directives soon.
