The Nigeria U-21 Beach Volleyball Male and Female teams have left for Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of the Africa Beach Volleyball Championship.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the players and their coaches left the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on Wednesday.
Speaking with newsmen on Wednesday, the National head coach for the tournament, John Iwerema said that the teams have been in camp for three weeks.
“We had a series of preparations, we just rounded up our three weeks camping here in Kaduna and we will be leaving for Abuja to Morocco today”.
“We believe that we will get a good placement on the podium in both male and female”.
“Having gone through the camping and seeing their efforts, these are the best players we have in this category in Nigeria”.
According to him, four players will be leaving for Morocco.
“The championship is starting this weekend in Casablanca, Morocco to end on Aug. 31,“he said.
He commended the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Musa Nimrod for his sponsorship and assistance.
Also speaking, Nimrod said the players are well prepared for the tournament.
“The players are well prepared for the tournament especially the female team, they were in Tunisia for the Africa beach games, they also went to Cotonou for Olympic qualifier.
“I believe that Nigeria will also be going for the world beach volleyball championship in Mexico by September.
“I believe that these players will perform very well, I have strong confidence they have to go and showcase their ability and capability,“he said.
One of the female players, Esther Mbah said she is confident the team will excel because of the training they went through
Mbah who was in high spirit promised that they would make the country proud. (NAN)
