Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has approved the redeployment of 404 non judicial staff to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state.
The Chief Registrar of the state High Court, Mr Subilim Danjuma, disclosed this at a news conference in Bauchi on Tuesday.
He said that the affected staff were those who possessed academic qualifications other than law or related disciplines.
“The redeployment is for those that have no place in the judiciary. It has nothing to do with termination of appointment nor did it connotes demotion in any way.
“It has been discovered that the Judiciary is staffed with Petro Chemical, Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, Architects, Mass Communication professionals, Laboratory Technologists, Quantity Surveyors, Community Health officers and many more.
“All of these courses have no place in the judiciary even the social science courses like Accounting, Public Administration, National Certificate of Education or Bachelors in Education and Marketing have some limitations.
“By implication, any person with any of these qualifications cannot rise above GL 14 but has the potential of rising to the position of director or even permanent secretary in the relevant ministry,” he said.
According to him, the exercise is being implemented by the Office of the Head of Civil Service in accordance with the approval of the governor.
The chief registrar said the management of the High Court was keenly following the process to ensure the protection of interest of the affected staff.
Danjuma urged the affected staff to cooperate with the authorities, adding that the exercise was done to fast track sustainable development of the state.
Also speaking, Mr Mohammed Shehu, Chairman, Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), assured the redeployed staff that none of them would be victimised, adding that the union was on top of the situation. (NAN)
