By Gracious Akujobi The Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) has taken delivery of 200 rackets, 200 shuttles as well as 20 nets from Badminton World Federation (BWF).
General Secretary of BFN, Mariam Akande who disclosed this assured that the supplied sports materials will be equitably shared among benefiting schools in line with the newly introduced shuttle time project in Nigeria.
Akande who also revealed that about 400 shuttle and rackets will soon be delivered by BWF added that it is also part of effort geared towards consolidating the gains of grassroots badminton program in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, BFN has concluded its level one coaching course for shooters, coaches and teachers. The course which was organized in collaboration with BWF was attended by a total of 15 shooters and 14 teachers.
BWF Development Officer for Africa, Annirao Dajee, who was also the training instructor expressed satisfaction with the performance of participants adding that three of them have already been selected to proceed to South Africa for the next phase of the programme.
“The objective of the training was to get People who will go ahead and train others in other parts of the country” Dajee stated.
