By Gracious Akujobi Ahead of the start of 2014/2015 season, Chairman of FC Taraba, Tijani Babangida has predicted a better season for the Jalingo-based team.
Babangida expressed happiness in their ability to finish 12th last season, saying that they achieved their goal which was to maintain their status in the Nigeria elite league.
He noted that now that the team has gained enough experience from participating in their first Nigeria Premier League season their focus is now to gun for a far better position in their second season.
“I want to say that I am happy that we achieved our goal last season which was to avoid the drop. It was a very good experience that we got and we really hope to build up on that experience
“We really started well last season but along the way we had some issues which really affected us but thank God we overcame the challenges and we finished well. But I can assure you this season will definitely be different, because we are redressing every area we made mistake last season,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Ex-international has revealed that the club pre season will resume on the 21st of this month, saying that the players are all expected in Jalingo to commence early preparation for the coming season.
On the coach that would handle the team following the dropping of the former coach, Ndubuisi Nduka towards the end of last season, Tijani stated that they have agreed in the club that the acting coaches, Tony Ogharanduku and Christian Obi, the goal keeper trainer be given some matches in the coming season to prove if they deserved to be retained as the substantive coaches.
“We want to still stick with these coaches for now because of the way they handled the team towards the last period of last season. We have given them some matches to tell us if they need the job on a permanent basis,” Tijani stated.
