Nigeria’s former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) has recalled how he pleaded with the late Head of State, Sani Abacha to spare the life of former president Olusegun Obasanjo. The Abacha regime arrested Obasanjo in 1995 owing to an alleged coup plot. However, the former president was released after Abacha’s demise in 1998. Justice Alexander Owoeye of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has dismissed a fundamental rights suit instituted against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, by Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju (a.k.a Bobrisky) alleging breach of his rights by the Commission and seeking N200million damages.
