Justice Olubunmi Oyewole of a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja on Tuesday dismissed an application filed before the court by Mr. Allens Agbaka, counsel to Fred Ajudua seeking to quash the charges against his client who is standing trial for defrauding a Dutch National, Mr. Remy Cime to the tune of $1.69m.   A Federal High Court in Lagos has barred Festus Keyamo from further prosecuting Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, for alleged money laundering charges. The EFCC had charged Mr. Fani-Kayode, in 2008, with 47 counts of money laundering amounting to N500 million. The judge said that Vitalis Ahaotu, who was appearing for Mr. Keyamo, failed to present the fiat empowering his firm to take up the case on behalf of the Attorney General of the Federation. EU foreign ministers have backed a German proposal to postpone further EU membership talks with Turkey for about four months. The EU-Turkey talks had been scheduled to resume this Wednesday. But Germany, Austria and the Netherlands have criticised Turkey’s crackdown on anti-government protests. Turkish police arrested at least 20 people in the capital Ankara on Tuesday, suspected of attacking police during the recent unrest in Istanbul.
