Authorities in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau on Sunday evening declared a 24-hour curfew in the council area. The chairman of the Interim Management Committee in the LGA, Markus Artu, who announced the curfew in a statement on Sunday evening said: “A 24-hour curfew has been declared in Mangu Local Government Area. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says cash deposits into domiciliary accounts will not be restricted, and customers “shall have unfettered and unrestricted access to funds in their accounts”. The bank spoke in a statement issued after a meeting with the bankers’ committee on Sunday. The meeting was meant to provide further guidance to deposit money banks (DMBs) on the recent operational changes to the foreign exchange market and to discuss the implementation and implications of the policy changes for the banking public. Mr Oguche Agudah, the Chief Executive Officer of Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp), said that if police pension exited the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), it would disrupt fiscal policy and create an unstable financial system. Police in Lagos State have arrested three suspected cultists terrorising residents of Ire-Akari Estate and environs in Isolo Local Council Development Area of the state. The Police Sevice Commission (PSC) has approved new policy guidelines for the deployment of Management and Tactical Commanders in the Nigeria Police. Mr Ikechukwu Ani, the Head of Press and Public Relations of PSC said this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja. He said the guideline include gender-senstivity in the deployment of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs) to Zones and state commands.
