Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last general election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, erstwhile Vice President, Architect Namadi Sambo acting National Chairman of the party, Ambassador Umar Ilya Damagum and several other chieftains of the party are expected to grace a program being hosted by the PDP Governors’ Forum on Thursday in Abuja.
Also expected to be in attendance at the welcome/reception program for PDP Governors-elect and send forth of past PDP Governors are; Governor of Rivers, Mr Nyeson Wike and ex-Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose.
Members of the PDP’s National Working Committee, NWC, National Executive Committee, NEC, and Board of Trustees, BoT, under the Chairmanship of Senator Adolphus Wabara are expected to grace the programme.
All outgoing and incoming Governors of the leading opposition party will similarly be attending the ceremony slated to hold at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
Serving and past Chairmen of the PDP-GF, including; Governors Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto) and Isiaku Darius (Taraba), as well as; Alhaji Alhassan Dankwabo, (erstwhile Governor of Gombe), Senator Seriake Dickson (immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State) and Mr Ayodele Fayose (an ex-Governor of Ekiti State) have been slated to be honoured at the event.
According to a statement yesterday by the Director-General of the PDP-GF, Hon CID Maduabum, “The PDP Governors’ Forum under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR, is organizing Welcome/Reception of PDP Governors-Elect and Send Forth of Past PDP-GF Chairmen scheduled for 1pm, Thursday, May 11, 2023 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
“The Governors-Elect being received into the Forum are; Umo Bassey Eno (Akwa Ibom), Peter Ndubusi Mbah (Enugu State), Agbu Kefas, Taraba State, Ameopusenibo Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers State), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta State), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara State) and Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau State).
“We are also welcoming three re-elected Governors, namely, H.E. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, H.E. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and H.E. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State.
“The Forum wishes to use the opportunity to formally send forth past Chairmen of the Forum, namely: H.E. Segun Mimiko, H.E. Ayodele Fayose, H.E. Ibrahim Dankwambo and H.E. Seriake Dickson.
“All outgoing PDP Governors:
Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State (Chairman); Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State (Vice Chairman); Gov. Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State; Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue State; Gov. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State; Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State; Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers State; and Gov. Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State, will also be honoured during the ceremony for all their services to the Forum.
“This event will feature a discussion on “Good Governance at the Sub-National level: Issues, Perspectives, Expectations and Outcomes”, which will lay out the challenges facing governance at the sub-national level and possible solutions and is to be presented by Dr. Muda Yusuf, a renowned economist, as Guest Speaker.
“It is expected to be a star-studded event as invitations have been extended to the Acting PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Umar Iliya Damagum and Members of the PDP National Working Committee, 2003 PDP Presidential Candidate and Former Vice President, H.E. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON and H.E. Namadi Sambo, GCON, Former Vice President, Former PDP Governors, Current and Former PDP Presiding/Principal Officers of the National Assembly, Party Leaders, Stakeholders, friends and well wishers.
“The programme will serve as an opportunity for PDP leaders, stakeholders and members to come together, since after the general election”, he said.
The theme of the programme, according to Maduabum, is ‘Good Governance at the sub-National evel: Issues, perspectives, expectations and outcomes”.
The Guest Speaker of the programme, Dr Muda Yusuf is slated to deliver a keynote address at the programme .
The PDP-GF is currently under the outgoing Chairmanship of Sokoto State Governor, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
All necessary arrangements, Hon Maduabum confirmed , have been put in place to make the program a huge success.
